Having spluttered through their opening two games the champions of England ended on a high in the Alps of Austria.
They took a while to materialise but when City’s first goals of the summer arrived they were a couple of gems and settled this feisty, rain-lashed contest.
The build-up to the first in the 44th minute owed much to a quick pass from Carlos Tevez and the tenacity of Abdul Razak whose refusal to buy a cheap free kick by hitting the deck allowed the ball to run on to Sergio Aguero who curled a beauty into the corner of the net.
Perhaps it was the mountain obscuring, slate grey and leaden sky that made the Blues look much perkier but more likely the extra week’s training in their legs.Read full match report
