City on Navas:

Spanish winger Jesus Navas completed his move to City from Sevilla in June 2013, after thrilling crowds for ten years at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

Electric pace, a keen desire to take on defenders and a bagful of tricks make him an exciting prospect for the 2013/14 season. His agility and an accurate final ball are also set to have the Premier League’s left backs eyeing him nervously.

City’s strikers will certainly relish the chance to line up alongside Navas – the diminutive winger created 76 chances for his teammates in the 12/13 league campaign, which was the fifth highest total in La Liga.

The 27-year-old can boast an extensive medal collection, winning two UEFA Cups, a UEFA Super Cup, two Copa del Rey titles and the Spanish Super Cup during his time at Sevilla.

He also boasts World Cup and European Championship medals with Spain, alongside new City teammate David Silva.

After joining Sevilla’s youth system at the age of 15, he was handed his senior debut just two years later – coming off the bench against Espanyol in November 2003. A sprinkling of first team appearances followed that season, alongside a regular place for Sevilla B in Spain’s third tier.

Boss Joaquin Caparros had seen enough and the youngster earned a promotion to the first team the following season, and has since chalked up 393 appearances for his home town club and grabbed 34 goals.

Clubs across Europe were finally alerted to his many talents during the UEFA Cup campaign of 2006, when the winger played in all 12 of Sevilla’s matches on the road to lifting the trophy.

Navas will also bring his Champions League experience to the Etihad Stadium, enjoying a season in the competition in 2009, when he scored twice and recorded three assists in just eight appearances.

Part of a Spanish national team which has won plaudits throughout the footballing landscape, Navas has played 23 times for his country including an appearance from the bench in the 2010 World Cup final.

Jesus won his first Premier League title in 2013/14 and was also a Capital One Cup winner as City beat Sunderland 3-1 at Wembley.
