Memorable moments that happened on this day in City’s history...

Thursday 12th May 2005

Stuart Pearce is handed the manager’s job on a permanent basis after an amazing run took City within a penalty kick of qualifying for the UEFA Cup. Pearce had taken over the reins from Kevin Keegan ten weeks earlier and guided City from mid-table to the cusp of European qualification and a win over Middlesbrough would have been enough – but a last-minute penalty miss by Robbie Fowler meant the Blues picked up one point instead of three and failed to qualify.

Saturday 12th May 1984

City complete the 1983/84 campaign with a 5-0 win over Cambridge United, but still finish ten points adrift of one of the promotion berths in fourth place.
