The warmest of welcomes awaited the City squad upon landing in New York’s JFK airport after a long flight, at the end of a long season.
Just hours after the team wrapped up the 2012-13 campaign against Norwich, bags were packed and re-packed and final preparations were made for the Blues’ post season tour of America.
It was an early start in Manchester and after the long trek across the Atlantic, a greeting by hundreds of happy, smiling City fans did much for tired heads, my own included!
Among them, a group of school kids had gathered complete with homemade posters and banners, waiting to meet their soccer heroes – providing us with just a small taste of the growing appetite for the game here in the States.
I'm sure you will agree that New York has a habit of never disappointing and as we drove towards the city and to the team's Manhattan based hotel, that incredible skyline came into view.
The usual rituals ensued, cameras came out, Tweets were sent and the odd Instagram photo appeared on our players’ timelines!
It turned out however that the best was still to come with the top floor hotel restaurant offering the most incredible panoramic views and even better photo opportunities!
Reaching these dizzy heights (as well as news that Rhianna was in the building!) proved to be enough action for one day though and much needed rest was sought ahead of a busy two days in the Big Apple!
