Could Gonzalo Higuain be on his way to City?
The Blues’ strong Argentine contingent of Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Pablo Zabaleta means the Etihad Stadium is a tempting destination from South America and Simon Mullock in the Sunday Mirror believes City will make a move for the Real Madrid man – as well as a top Bundesliga striker – this summer.
Writes Mullock: “Manchester City have targeted Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain to solve their goal-scoring problems.
“Argentine hitman Higuain, 25, has fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho and is attracted by the chance to link up with close friend Aguero at the Etihad.
"Roberto Mancini has blamed City’s failure to keep up with United at the top of the table on a lack of goals and has also earmarked Napoli’s Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao of Atletico Madrid
“But landing those players would cost in excess of £100million – and City are now looking at Higuain and Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski as alternatives. They would cost £25million each.”
Scott Sinclair continues to find himself in the tabloid transfer gossip columns with Bolton Wanderers linked with a loan move for the Blues’ forward.
The People’s Hotline report: “Sinclair is wanted by Dougie Freedman’s promotion hopefuls Bolton. Sinclair, 23, has not seen much action since his big money move to the champions and the Bolton chief would like to take him on loan for the rest of the season.”
It’s hard to see any strikers leaving the Club anytime soon following Mario Balotelli’s departrure – but the Press are convinced their will be a lot of transfer activity at the Etihad this season.
As ever, any official business will be reported here on mcfc.co.uk first.
