City under-18s contest their final Barclays U18s Premier League fixture of 2012 when they entertain Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday morning.
Adam Sadler’s men will be hoping to sign off with a victory in what has been a testing league campaign so far this season.
City cannot climb any higher than sixth in the table unless they beat Wolves by nine goals, so are likely to be playing after Christmas in Qualification Group 2 along with probable opponents Arsenal, Norwich City, Newcastle United, Stoke City and Middlesbrough.
When the two sides last met, back at the start of October, three second half goals from the midlands outfit consigned the Blues to a 3-0 defeat.
On that occasion, it was the physical nature of the opposition that seemed to be the difference between the teams, so it will be interesting to see if Sadler has the chance to call upon some of the second year scholars who have predominately been turning out for the EDS so far this campaign.
Kean Bryan will be hoping to keep his place in the side after an impressive first start of the season for the under-18s against Crystal Palace where he completed more key passes (4) than any other City player has made in a single game this season.
It also remains to be seen if there will be a place for Joe Nuttall who has the best goals per minute ratio for the team this season, coming off the bench to score against Liverpool and Crystal Palace.
We’ll keep you up to date with how things progress at Platt Lane on the official Twitter account and bring you a full report on the site shortly after full-time.
