Roberto Mancini is looking forward to seeing new signings Gael Clichy and Stefan Savic make their City debuts in the Herbalife World Football Challenge.
The Blues’ boss has been impressed by the pair during training in Los Angeles and could give his new charges some match time in the opening tournament game.
City arrived in San Francisco on Friday afternoon in preparation for the first game of the 2011 Summer Tour and will take on Mexican side Club America at the AT&T Park on Saturday (1am Sunday UK time).
“He has played nearly 50 Champions League games and we need two left-backs because there will be so many games to play.
“I am delighted that Stefan Savic has joined us because many teams in England and Italy were trying to sign him so it is very good for our club that he has chosen Manchester City.
“He is strong and he is very young, so he too will be a great addition.”
Mancini says he intends to give the whole squad game time against Club America, with the Blues still at an early stage of their pre-season preparations.
“We want to do a good job and compete in the Herbalife World Football Challenge, but we have only been training for two weeks so we are still a way off being up the fitness levels we need to be at,” he said.
“I will probably play two different teams for each half against Club America and maybe the same for the game against Vancouver Whitecaps on Monday, but we will see.”
