Summer Tour: Bailey's Blog Day 2

Switch it on and off again! That is the motto of IT battalions whenever you shoot at their ‘geekdom’ with an elementary question.
Well not the crew back at the Etihad Stadium who saved the week when the web team in the USA discovered that we could not get into the Content Management System thanks to some misplaced firewalls.
That meant a delay to posting all the video, stories and pictures from the flight over here and the arrival and we apologise for the wait.
Jetlag kept me awake most of the night and that time was used to try to sort out the problems under the guidance of ‘techmeister’ Ryan Stanley - so if you are enjoying our coverage of the LA stay then say a thank you to his patience.
The off the pitch social skills of footballers are often called into question by the press and public alike. It may well be a below the belt criticism but the one thing that they are great at is disappearing once they get into a hotel of any size.
Off the coach they get and then they are gone not to be seen again until meal time. That is except for SWP who last night took to wandering the lobby as they call it over here in an electric blue Umbro t-shirt, matching shorts and black tights.
All attempts to ask him why fell on stony ears as he couldn’t hear through his industrial sized earphones – the type used by those whose job it is to guide aircraft into their stands. When he did manage to speak he told me he was keen to stay at City and win another contract and not at all anxious to leave.
Coaching staff members Brian Kidd and Fausto Salsano were in the hotel gym at 6am having failed to sleep, another member of the backroom team Christian Lattanzio could be found running on the beach in the early morning fog and mist that made LA look a bit like Ancoats in November.
There was none of that for Mario Balotelli who decided he wanted breakfast in bed – more specifically bacon – but in the end donned a pair of giant red trainers and sauntered into dine with Messrs DeJong, Kompany and Boateng.
Whilst the support staff stayed behind organising the FA Cup’s trip into LA later this week and the logistics for split training sessions at two different locations in this vast and sprawling city, the team headed off for their opening session at the Home Depot Centre.
As ever Citytv cameras went with them and we will bring you footage of that session plus exclusive and extended interviews with Nigel de Jong and Vincent Kompany.
On their return and post lunch Aleks Kolarov, Edin Dzeko, Mario and Chappy couldn’t resist a sunbathe for an hour by the pool though Kolarov was keen to advise our social media man Chris Nield of the paucity of his haircut (if you agree or disagree you can post on the official facebook page, I’m sure you will be able to find a pic of said ‘barnet’).
Keep your eyes peeled too for more of Micah’s Diary, the American Press view, a chat with the new club doctor and don’t forget, either, all our exclusive coverage on Twitter.
