There has been a lot of talk recently about ‘planking’, a craze that is sweeping the internet and I learned about from a mate here in the States
Basically involves lying down in silly places, taking a picture and posting it on the web via Twitter or Facebook.
Some of the lads did a few shots before training the other day. I was on top of a dividing screen and Harty was on the balcony of the gym – though his effort was pretty rubbish I have to say!
Easily the best one so far was Wrighty who hung upside down by his feet from the top of a door like a human bat. That was amazing.
We were going to put SWP in one of the over-head lockers in the plane on the way over but we decided not to.
Planking is a bit of fun but we know we have to make sure it doesn’t get out of hand or become dangerous. We don’t want young fans copying us and doing anything that is dangerous and we have to make sure we don’t get hurt.
Overall it would probably be best if Mario didn’t join in!
We arrived early evening in our hotel which has great views over a yacht club and marina. Changing time zones is always a tricky thing and I am sure not many of the lads had a good night’s sleep though people who read this diary last year will know that it is not something with which I have trouble.
Breakfast was eaten in a temporary restaurant because the one we will have for our stay was being used for a wedding. To be honest I’m sure it was a great setting. It looked like the couple got wed outside by the pool area.
Anyway all signs of it had gone this morning when we had a quick breakfast and then headed out to LA Galaxy’s Home Depot headquarters for our first training in 2011 on American soil. I will tell you all about it in tomorrow’s diary though you will probably see some video from Bailey and his crew as they went with us. It was sweltering by the end of the session.
Tomorrow we are off to try out our other training pitch at the university and then we are off to the baseball but more of that in another diary.
See you later.
