Summer tour: Gym'll fix it!

It's not all about running and stamina training in pre-season - the gym has a vital part to play in getting the players into tip-top shape, too.

Mario Balotelli is steadily shifting up a gear and enjoyed a decent half-hour at City's Los Angeles training base.

Unfortunately, the close proximity and humid heat can lead to the odd dispute and Joleon Lescott watches on as Nigel de Jong and Vincent Kompany wrestle for the only medicine ball available - you  wouldn't like to get in the middle of those two locking horns, would you?

Good to see Jerome Boateng back and looking sharp. Looks like he's found Pat Butcher's earrings on the gym floor...

One lad never short of a smile is Micah Richards who seems to be getting ready for his next planking picture - just remember, REALLY don't try that at home! The England defender enjoys life to the full and is always a pleasure to be around - this pic just sums up his personality perfectly.

There's always one, isn't there? "Anyone fancy a quick kick-around?" asks James Milner. There were no takers from  an over-heated, weary squad on this occasion.

Having won the medicine ball from Vinny, Nigel was too exhausted to actually use the exercise aid and instead offered Mario a game of dodge ball. Just like Milner's offer, however, there were no takers.

Besides, Vinny found another one that he wasn't about to let go in a hurry. Having just run around a pitch for an hour and with an intensive gym session behind them, the lads then hit the showers before heading back to the hotel - all a little closer to match fitness.
