Summer tour: Micah's weekend diary

Well, quite a bit has happened since my last diary. For one, we’ve gone from Los Angeles to San Francisco and on to Vancouver, which is where I am until midday Tuesday UK time then back to LA.
Loads of travelling on this tour and though the hotels we stay in are fantastic, you do tend to wake up thinking ‘Where am?’ I and ‘What time is it?’
Some of the guys would say I was always like that, but ask David Clayton who has taken on the job of writing my words down each day – I’ve just annihilated him at draughts (or checkers as the Americans call it).
He thought he had me early doors but it ended a bit embarrassing for him in the end, though we have a re-match planned for Santa Monica in two days’ time.
So on to San Francisco. It looked like a brilliant city but we didn’t have time to look around much. I really wanted to see Alcatraz but you need to book three weeks in advance so that was the end of that.
I reckon I’ll have to go back to San Francisco in my own time and do all the things I want to do – and book in advance, of course.
It was great to get back playing again at the weekend and I enjoyed my 45 minutes against Club America. Playing in a baseball stadium was a bit weird but it was an experience and I thought we did well, beating the Mexicans by two home runs to nil (!)
Unfortunately I went over on my ankle after one tackle and that was why I couldn’t play against Vancouver Whitecaps.
I caught up with my cousin Atiba Harris when we arrived in Canada and took a look around EA Sports HQ in Vancouver - which is pretty impressive – he also had to miss the Whitecaps game due to knee surgery he had a couple of months back.
It’s about seven years since I last saw him and it was great to hook up with him again and meet his little daughter Leyla – yet another addition of the worldwide Richards clan!
I used to play football with ‘Tibes’ when I was a kid and he was someone I always looked up to and still do – and he’s still the only footballer I know to come from St Kitts! We’ll be keeping in touch from now on a more regular basis.
I’m gonna sign off on this one, now, but I just want to add that the other lads might mock my diary, but I know it’s just jealousy. I think Nige de Jong is the worst, showing a bit too much interest and telling me nobody reads it. I think he just needs to admit that he wants to do one but nobody has asked him!
Don’t miss tomorrow’s diary – I’m going to town on Joleon Lescott and reveal the result of our arm wrestling contest – if you could call it that...
See you tomorrow,
