Manchester City’s game against Vancouver Whitecaps will be played as scheduled this evening (7pm Pacific time).

Heavy rainfall in the Canadian city meant Empire Field has undergone around the clock work to clear the surface of water.

But, following an inspection at 1.30pm local time, the referee and both clubs deemed the pitch playable.

The game will be City’s second in the Herbalife World Football Challenge, after Roberto Mancini’s men beat Club America 2-0 in San Francisco on Saturday.
