City Ladies make the lengthy trip to Portsmouth this weekend as they look to progress into the last eight of the Premier League Cup.

Following on from a disappointing finish to the Sunderland game, the Blues will be looking to put up another resolute team performance to secure a safe passage to the next round.

Pompey will be looking to get back to winning ways after being soundly beaten by Sunderland at the end of 2012. Missing at least four players last time out, the Blues know they will a different proposition when they face them at Moneyfields on Sunday.

Elsewhere in the Cup the holders Sunderland take on Northern Division leaders Sheffield FC, whom City have drawn at home in the third round of the FA Cup to be played on the 3rd February.

Looking ahead to the trip Leigh Wood spoke to us after training:

"After last week's performance against Sunderland, we go into this weekend's game with confidence high, knowing that if we work hard for one another and show good quality on the ball we can cause teams problems at this level.

Having already played Portsmouth this season we know we will be in for a tough game. We have set ourselves targets this season and one is to perform well in the League Cup and go further than we did last season, so we will be going there looking to win the game and progress to the quarter finals".

The match will kick off at 1pm at Moneyfields Avenue, Portsmouth, PO3 6LA. As ever you can follow exclusive LIVE match updates on Twitter @MCLFC
