Paul Lake can't wait to set off on the Santa Stroll on December 5, and the club's popular City in the Community Ambassador's message to supporters is: Come and join me - the more the merrier Christmas!

Lakey, a much-loved player, has put his heart and soul into City's charity work since returning to the club earlier this year and is delighted to be involved in a day of true Christmas spirit for the fans.

He says: "I can hardly wait to see everybody here at the Stadium in their sky blue Santa suits ready for action - what a sight that will be! And every single penny raised will be going to the club's chosen charities.

"It's going to be a super day! For a start, the Santa suit will be great for our fans - after the stroll's finished you've got it to wear at home games, away games, Christmas parties and a bit of fun at home.

"We've got an ice rink on the day, there will be a skate chair for disabled supporters to get involved, we're having real reindeer and Santa's sleigh, and our CITC inflatables to give it even more of a Christmas feel.

"We're also putting on a smashing Christmas menu, Mike Summerbee and Rodney Marsh will be at the City Store signing their new books - and there is going to be a 20 per cent discount in the store on the day.

"Plus every participant's number goes into the raffle with the winner getting a thousand pound's worth of kit from the City Store.

So there's every reason for our fans to get involved and enjoy a wonderful day

As Paul points out, the 4km Stroll, sponsored by Optimum, will be the centrepiece of a day of festive fun for all the family. Gates will open at 10am and the walk starts at 12 noon from the Regional Athletics Arena.

Entry costs £15 for adults and £12 for children, all going to CITC Giving, the charitable giving arm of the club’s CSR policy. Each of the five main nominated charities – Guide Dogs for the Blind, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, St. Ann’s Hospice, CITC and Children’s Adventure Farm Trust – will be represented at the event.

Along with the sky blue Santa suit, the entry fee also includes a race number, medal and a goody bag on completion. Registration forms can be completed online by going to and must be received no later than December 3.

Santa suits can be collected on the day or from the City Store from December 1 – meaning you can wear your suits to the Salzburg and Bolton home games during that week!

Everybody is welcome to join in the Stroll. However, certain areas of the course may be quite challenging for wheelchair users due to inclines, sleeping policemen etc. So we have deemed the event accessible with assistance. Please bring your helpers along - the more the merrier!
