The latest book by Club historian and author Gary James is now available from the City Store.
The Big Book Of City has been written in the spirit and style of traditional football annuals and is a joyful celebration of the players, games, goals and supporters from the Club’s earliest beginnings to the modern era.
The book includes two main themes – goalkeepers and Europe – and carries profiles of every City league ‘keeper and every European game played by the Blues. There’s also the story of the Trawler Twelve, as told by one of the intrepid City explorers.
The book reveals for the first time exactly where the name “Maine Road” actually came from – it’s a surprising tale – and the incredible story of City in Berlin in 1937 when the Blues took on the German propaganda machine.
There are also golden goals, daily season reminders, City managers, quizzes, obscure history and a timeline of City’s history.
The work also includes many rare images from the birth of the Blues through to goals by Adebayor and Tevez this season, and is destined to be the perfect gift this Christmas.
The Big Book Of City by Gary James, is published by James Ward www.manchesterfootball.org and is now available from the City Store, priced £19.95 (hardback).
Congratulations to Simon Fowler from Altrincham who won a signed copy of Gary's book on the official MCFC Facebook page. Joe Corrigan is the City 'keeper who has made the most European appearances for the Blues.
