Running since the start of the 2009/10 season, the official MCFC fan page on Facebook is preparing to welcome its 80,000th member.

Facebook is a free social networking tool that allows users to keep in touch with the people around them. So far the official MCFC facebook page has brought together City fans from every corner of the globe and provides a platform for lively debate, competitions and exclusive behind the scenes information direct from the club.

The UK Sports Network recently published an article with the club's Social Media Executive, Chris Nield, which explains the thinking behind MCFC's desire to be a major footballing presence in the world of social media.
