City are delighted to announce a unique and exciting partnership with Hyde FC.
The two clubs have finalised a three-year groundsharing and sponsorship deal which will see City play their reserve, U21 and selected academy matches at Ewen Fields Stadium.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Blues will also make a significant investment to improvement and uplift of facilities at Ewen Fields.
City in the Community Scheme will continue as Hyde FC’s shirt sponsors for the 2012/2011 Blue Square Bet North campaign.
We have played reserve games at Ewen Fields in the past, before recently hosting them at the Regional Athletics Arena, adjacent to the City of Manchester Stadium.
But the links between the two clubs have remained strong, and City are delighted to be returning to Hyde.
City Chief Executive, Garry Cook, said: “We have for some time been investigating the possibility of a new venue for our reserve, U21 and selected academy fixtures. To that end, Ewen Fields provides an ideal solution, and the Club are very much looking forward to taking our games to Hyde for the new season.
This is a win-win situation for both Manchester City and Hyde. They are a fantastic local club with which we have long enjoyed a strong relationship
“We are delighted to be able to help them, whilst at the same time securing the use of a fitting venue for our reserve, development and academy players to showcase their talents to our supporters.”
Hyde Chairman, Steve Hartley is equally effusive about the deal.
“We’re delighted to join up in partnership with Manchester City, and we’re looking forward to offering a warm welcome back to the players, staff and supporters for the games that they will play here at Ewen Fields,” he added.
“We have always had a close relationship with City, and Garry Cook and Life President Bernard Halford have both given us tremendous support during the past few seasons, especially last year when the Club needed help quickly and City allowed us to do a bucket collection at Eastlands at very short notice, which raised almost £10,000.”
The Premier League reserve fixtures list will be announced in due course.
