THE City of Manchester Stadium revealed why it is the venue of choice for event organisers across the UK, when it unveiled its new conference and events line up for 2010.

More than 200 guests attended our recent ‘Show and Tell’ event where guests from the events industry were given an exclusive look at the Stadium’s recently refurbished suites, new conference and events menus, together with a behind the scenes tour of the ground including the plush Platinum Boxes (which can be hired out for more intimate gatherings), the Chairman’s Lounge, directors box and players’ dressing rooms.

Angela Hodson, Conference and Events manager at the Stadium, said: “The event was organised to showcase all that the City of Manchester Stadium has to offer; extensive facilities, exceptional customer service and new culinary line-up to match.

“We have welcomed event organisers, marketing professionals and personal assistants from large corporates to small and medium sized businesses from across the UK. The event ensures they have an informed view when choosing the location for their next event. I’m sure the day left a lasting impression with our guests and we look forward to welcoming them back.”

Unveiled at the launch were the Stadium’s mouth-watering new Conference and Events menus. Over the last 12 months, consultant executive chef, John Benson-Smith, together with Neil Worcester, operations and catering manager at the Stadium, have devised a series of menus, with taste and nutrition at their heart.

The new menus, which use the finest, locally sourced produce, cater for every occasion, from early morning breakfast meetings where guests can enjoy fresh fruit smoothies and granola, to lunchtime buffets including ‘create your own’ sandwiches and salads, pasta bowls, deli plates, jacket potatoes and healthy option finger buffets.

John explains: “We have moved away from the traditional deep fried stodgy buffet fare, like pork pies and sausage rolls, which can leave guests feeling lethargic, and opted for something fresh and more nutritionally balanced. Whatever the occasion, we want our food to really stand out and add to the guests’ overall experience rather than blending into the background of their event.”
