Paul Lake is set to feature in a series of video interviews to celebrate his return to City.

The Blues’ new City in the Community Ambassador will talk about his early days with junior side Blue Star through to his testimonial in 1997 when he was forced to retire aged  only 25.

Lake returns to the site of former City ground Maine Road and recalls some of his most memorable moments – and heartache – by visiting the actual areas on what used to be Stan Gibson’s lush green pitch.

Along with the highs and the lows, the former City skipper reveals that he almost went with England for the Italia ’90 World Cup, as well as being told by Sir Bobby Robson that he would one day lead his country.

“Things have come full circle for me and I’m just so happy to be home,” said Lake.

To be part of the club at such an exciting time is fantastic and I want to help the forward momentum in my role with CITC

“City are really going places and I’ve been astounded by the positive response from our fans since it was announced I’d returned to the club recently.

“I’d like to thank everyone for their amazing support – I can’t tell you what it means to me to be held in such esteem by so many people.”

Watch out for a special ‘Paul Lake Week’ soon.
