Adam Johnson joined hundreds of fans to officially open CityStore Abu Dhabi, the first stand-alone store of any English Premier League team in the region.

Located in the revered Marina Mall, the store features a full range of club merchandise, including a shirt printing service to create personalised and one-of-a-kind items.

To celebrate the store opening, Blues and England winger Adam Johnson first cut the ribbon and then spent time signing autographs for local fans many of them youngsters.

“We have travelled quite a lot over the past year - around Europe, the US on our pre-season tour, and of course Abu Dhabi – and when you visit these places, it definitely makes you realise how far we have come and the ever-growing interest in Manchester City,” reflected Johnson who is currently sidelined by an ankle injury.

“Everywhere we go we see City fans coming to greet us, from home and abroad, but none more so than here in Abu Dhabi.”

The winger also reflected on the determination inside the dressing room to land a trophy in the coming weeks to lift all fans new and old.

“The next three home games are really important to us, particularly so because they cover each of the competitions that we are competing for,” said Johnson.

“Many people focus on our Premier League campaign, which is understandable and we are certainly doing all we can to achieve a top four place, but our progress in both the FA Cup and the Uefa Europa League are equally important.

“We really want to go all the way in the cup competitions and playing the next two ties in front of our home fans will definitely give us a boost.”

To give UAE fans the opportunity to stay close to the action, CityStore Abu Dhabi will broadcast live all City games throughout the remainder of the season.
