Tasty treats in City Square on Saturday

There’s plenty on the menu in City Square this Saturday ahead of the return of Barclays Premier League action to the Etihad Stadium.
The top-of-the-table Blues are going head-to-head with Newcastle United, the only other unbeaten side in the top flight, and its well worth getting to our supporter zone at the end of Joe Mercer Way early in the build-up to kick off at 3pm.
City favourite Dennis Tueart’s finest moment came against the Magpies in 1976 when his overhead kick secured the League Cup, and he’ll be signing copies of his autobiography in the CityStore before chatting to Natalie Pike and Hugh Ferris onstage.
Two local unsigned bands, The Blind Leading The Blind and The Last Party, will perform live as part of City Soundwave – one original song plus their own takes on ‘Blue Moon’.
Up on the big screens watch out for a live interview with a player as the Blues arrive, and Roberto Mancini will talk about his selection for this crucial match just after the teams are read out live from the tunnel at around 2pm.
Fanzone Danny will be on the look-out for your predictions on camera, and there’s the chance to win a Jaguar for a week. Take a guess at how many footballs are in the car on display in City Square, and those making the three best guesses will be kicking a ball into the open boot of the car at the side of the pitch at half-time! It’s only a 47,000 seat sell-out so there’s no pressure!
The bars and cafes in City Square will be open from just before 1pm, with the entertainment starting just afterwards – where else would you rather be?
