Another set of sublime performances have seen David Silva waltz away with the Etihad Player of the Month award for September.

The mercurial midfielder, dubbed "Merlin" by former team mate Shaun Wright-Phillips in pre-season, polled over 1,000 votes as cast by City fans on Etihad's website. That was twice as many as runners-up Mario Ballotelli and Sergio Aguero, who were neck-and-neck on 431 votes each.

There has been a case for giving the 25-year-old the man-of-the-match award every time he has played this season, and a tally of six assists in addition to a couple of goals tell their own story. It's not just City fans who think David is magic, he was also named as the Barclays player of the month for last month.

Of those who voted for David, Pam Holt from West Yorkshire was pulled out of the hat to meet the man of the moment at the Carrington training ground and present him with his award. Keep your eyes peeled for coverage on CityTV.
