Having played second fiddle to the Olympics, football is back with a bang this weekend as Champions of England City clash with European Champions and FA Cup winners Chelsea.
At stake is the Community Shield which will put down a marker, as well as improving competitive match fitness.
City have yet to sign any new players but with a quality squad at his disposal and the success they achieved last season, Roberto Mancini was never likely to make sweeping changes.
Chelsea have made a few new additions to their squad over the summer and the game should see the first competitive appearances of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin at Wembley.
City have looked stronger and stronger with each pre-season game. Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko have all been on the score sheet. All three men are likely to be in the Charity Shield squad and whoever starts could be worth backing to score.
Tevez and Aguero (see end of article for Paddy Power’s money back special) are both 5/1 to score first and 7/5 to score anytime. Dzeko is 6/1 to score first and 9/5 to score anytime.
Yaya Toure has been in fantastic form in pre-season, scoring two goals in their last four games. The big Ivorian is a tempting 12/1 to score first and 4/1 to score anytime.
The level of competitive rivalry in the Premier League nowadays will ensure this won’t be a comfortable pre-season stroll in the park for either side. Winners always want to win and these two clubs all but swept the boards last season.
Expect to see an entertaining, hard fought game which will showcase just what fans have been missing all summer.
Both games between these sides finished 2-1 last season and City to win by that score at Villa Park is attractively priced at 15/2.
Money Back Special: If Sergio Aguero scores the first goal, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match!
