The members of the CITC Soccer Schools tour party have already met some wonderful people during the first days of the week-long visit, but none more inspiring than the pupils and staff at St. Gabriel’s School, Dooradoyle.
Established in 1961, the centre provides a range of disability services to children and young people to help them live their lives in an inclusive manner, along with a comprehensive educational program to help the students achieve their full potential.
City’s Patrick Vieira and Paul Lake were guests of honour at the centre on Monday morning and enjoyed a tour of the impressive complex including the school’s new Hydrotheraphy Pool that was opened in 2009.
The duo then posed for photographs and signed autographs for the 47 pupils who attend the facility before a touching presentation from the school’s Fundraising officer Kate Sheahan, Principal Kathryn O'Connor and Chief Executive Maire O' Leary:
The day will go down in history as one of the happiest moments at St. Gabriel’s for a long time.

"We are still smiling and glowing from it all, it was such a fun upbeat morning and it feels like a little bit of magic dust was sprinkled around St.Gabriel’s as children and staff continue to chat, share photos, look at YouTube, tweet and share their own personal memories of what happened last Monday. I’m amazed the MCFC website hasn’t crashed from all the hits it must have received from this little community alone."
On the event, City's Football Development Executive Patrick Vieira added:
"It's moments like this that make me proud to be involved at this Football Club, especially seeing the smiles on the children's faces"
