City will take on Limerick in a pre-season friendly at Thomond Park on August 5 2012.
The game is taking place on the same day that City last played Limerick 21 years ago and it marks the 75th anniversary of the Irish club.
Before that last match between the teams on 4 August 1991, City had finished fifth in the old Division One under the management of Peter Reid. They now return as Premier League champions.
City will face the Airtricity First Division side seven days before they take on Chelsea in the Community Shield at Villa Park.
Patrick Vieira and Paul Lake visited “the Treaty City” last February and took along the FA Cup, attending a private function with the Limerick MCFC Supporters Club in the process.
All proceeds from the match will go to Limerick FC’s football project in the city.
Ticket sale details will be announced very soon.
