Enter the Sport Relief Mile, and raise cash for Shoot for the Moon!

Bigger and better than ever before, Sport Relief 2012 is coming from 23rd to 25th March and Manchester City are encouraging fans to be part of it in the UK’s biggest year of sport!

And best of all, by taking part you can choose to support Shoot for the Moon, the club’s fundraising partnership with Sport Relief, meaning that every single penny of the money you raise will be spent supporting projects right here on your doorstep in Manchester!

Over one million men, women and children across the country are expected to pull their socks up and take part in a Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile, and we urge you to join the great British public at the Manchester Mile, which kicks off at Spinningfields on Sunday 25th March.

There’s something for everyone with a choice of tackling 1, 3 or 6 miles and plenty of other entertainment on offer – including an opportunity to take part in loads of exciting activities delivered by the MCFC City in the Community team. You might also spot a famous face or two – including pop superstar Olly Murs who will be performing for the crowds!

We have set up a group fundraising page exclusively for City fans, which we have called ‘Team Manchester City’ - and our friends at Sport Relief have committed that all cash raised by fans who sign up to join this group will be added to the total raised for Shoot for the Moon, ensuring that all of the money raised will be spent on projects supporting young people and families in the Manchester area, including some delivered by CITC themselves.

To sign up for the Manchester Mile please visit, and then once you have done that you can then choose to support Shoot for the Moon by joining ‘Team Manchester City’. All that’s left to do after that is to get fundraising!

Yaya Toure says, “Please please please support Shoot for the Moon, our fundraising partnership with Sport Relief, by entering the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile today – all the money you raise by getting sponsored will help vulnerable young people and families right here in Manchester. It doesn’t matter whether you do 1, 3 or 6 miles, whether you do it with your mates, against the clock or as a family team – just make sure you are at that start line on Sunday 25th March, have a fantastic day and most importantly raise some serious cash by getting sponsored.”
