When City travelled to Loftus Road last November, the general opinion was that the Blues would enjoy a comfortable victory.
City were on a seven-game winning streak which included their 6-1 win at Old Trafford.
The game turned out to be a far tighter affair than the pre-match odds would have suggested. In the end City battled through for a 3-2 win and Roberto Mancini will be preparing the players for a similarly tough clash at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Mark Hughes’ QPR side have managed just three wins from their 18 away games this season, conceding 38 goals on their travels. This record goes a long way to explain why the London side are a massive 14/1 with Paddy Power to win this game.
However this is the final game of the season and QPR are scrapping for their Premier League survival and they they’ll be on a high after Djibril Cisse’s last-minute winner against |Stoke and have also beaten Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool in their last nine Premier League games.
City’s statistics are a lot more impressive: 18 home games, 17 wins, 1 draw. 52 goals scored and just 10 conceded. The Blues have turned the Etihad Stadium in to a fortress this season and it would be fitting to end the 44-year title drought here.
Paddy Power has priced City as strong odds-on favourites at 1/7. There’s more profit to be made by looking at City -2 goals at 11/10 or City -3 goals at 5/2.
After his crucial brace against Newcastle, Yaya Toure will find some extra backers this weekend. The Ivorian has a knack of scoring important goals, grabbing the winner in the first meeting with QPR this season. Toure is 13/2 to score first and 6/4 to score anytime.
The favourites in the goal-scorer markets remain Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez. Both players are 5/2 to score first and 4/11 to score anytime.
With the Premier League title and Premier League survival on the line in this game, we can expect a high-paced, committed showing from both teams. They shared five goals the last time they met and you can back over 4.5 goals with Paddy Power at 15/8.
