Fans and customers at the Etihad Stadium, home of Barclays Premier League Champions Manchester City, will be able to experience the finest hospitality in world football next season.
Looking back to its roots, the club has revealed a stunning overhaul to two of its prime hospitality suites. A newly named Connell Club will replace the club’s fine dining Boardroom offer, while The Mancunian will be radically upgraded too.
The new Connell Club marks the heritage of Manchester City, as it was the Connell family itself who founded the Club in 1880.
Available on and off match day, The Connell Club will offer exclusive fine dining for up to 220 guests. Rubber stamped with the Connell Club crest, the suite will include ‘ambassador booths’ for a more intimate dining experience, with a gallery entrance paying homage to the club’s legacy.
Such is the attention to detail that the five special ambassador tables each represent an attribute to the original mark of the club. Each table is inscribed with the reference around the table edge and has its own commissioned plaque.
The Mancunian is given a new, ultra-modern look with space for up to 250 guests, encapsulating all that is Manchester with its musical and cultural heritage represented through communication touch points including lyrics from iconic Manchester bands and quotes from prominent Mancunians.
The place where ‘the City meets City’, The Mancunian will combine the ultra-modern feel with elements from yesteryear, featuring displays of lyrics from classic football chants, to bespoke wall art commemorating some of the club’s most iconic players.
Work starts on the suites soon to ensure they are ready for the start of the 2012/13 season.
Manchester City’s marketing manager Justice Ellis said: “We wanted to match what we have achieved on the pitch with our hospitality offer, and we’re thrilled with the look and feel of these plans in anticipation of what is to come at the Etihad Stadium next season.
“Both the Connell Club and The Mancunian have been meticulously planned to represent the aspects on which the club is formed, from a proud history, unique culture and loyal fan-base.
“Manchester City is a global brand, proud of its roots. We are taking these spaces onto another level, expressing the character of the club and creating an experience unrivalled anywhere in world football.”
The overhaul to The Mancunian and introduction of the Connell Club comes hot on the heels of the club delivering a stadia first with the launch of a Harvey Nichols concept box at the Etihad Stadium.
What was a traditional 8ft x 11ft platinum hospitality box has been transformed into an ultimate experience for men and women. The space, also available on and off match day, demonstrates the club’s commitment to working with its key partners to add a new dimension to their brand.
Justice Ellis added: “Our vision is to develop world class facilities for the future. This extends to our match and non-match day hospitality, where concepts such as the Harvey Nichols box, new hospitality areas, City Square and the EA SPORTS dug-out create unique and exciting experiences for all of our fans and guests, every time they visit.
“Next season, we intend to push this further as we bring more brands to life, introducing even more surprises for visitors to the Etihad Stadium.”
