City welcome Liverpool to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon for what promises to be another fiercely contested game with their north-western rivals.
According to the odds, it’s a game that the home side are expected to win with Paddy Power, official bookmaker to the Blues, making the hosts 5/6 favourites to claim a vital victory.
City’s midweek draw with a Julio Cesar-inspired QPR was a disappointment, but it did make it seven games without defeat for the defending Premier League champions, with six of those ending in City wins.
The generous bookmaker is also offering one of his famous ‘Money-Back Specials’ on the match.
If Sergio Aguero or Luis Suarez scores the last goal of the contest, Paddy Power will refund all losing ‘first goal scorer’, ‘last goal scorer’, ‘correct score’ and ‘scorecast’ single bets on the match.
The two South American imports have been among the goals so far this season, so there’s every chance Paddy will be handing a chunk of cash back to punters on Sunday evening.
There’s more good news for City fans, this time in the shape of their recent history with the Merseysiders.
The last couple of times City hosted Liverpool in the league, they ran out convincing 3-0 winners, athree-peat, 3-0 Correct Score option is available at 14/1.
Another encouraging stat comes from the Blues’ impressive rearguard. City have yet to concede a goal in 2013. Almost ten hours have passed since City last had to pick the ball out of their own net and that suggests there’s a bit of value about the 5/2 for City to win to nil.
January was also good in terms of sharing out the goalscoring load.
Eight different City players produced the 11 goals they racked up during the month. Carlos Tevez has managed to find the net a few times against Liverpool, most recently with the equaliser that earned City a draw at Anfield in August. He’s 9/2 to be first goalscorer on Sunday and 11/10 to score at anytime.
Another interesting ‘any time’ option is Pablo Zabaleta. He’s only scored seven goals in his City career, but three of them have come since the start of December. The winner he scored against Stoke again showcased his knack of finding the net and he’s 9/1 to score at anytime during Sunday’s game.
