NFL star Menelik Watson is making a special appearance in BT City Square ahead of the Chelsea clash.
The day after the Superbowl, the Manchester-born Oakland Raiders player will be on stage to discuss American football and of course his beloved City – the team he has supported since childhood.
Mancunian Menelik has supported the Blues through three decades, and went to college with Micah Richards. He said: “I realised that we had this team, City, which was actually in the heart of Manchester – playing at Maine Road in front of loyal fans who weren’t just in it for success.
"From there I thought this is my team, this is the right team to follow. Back then I can’t even remember what league we were in! I’ve been through the highs and the lows of promotion and relegation.”
Joe Corrigan will also be appearing to talk about legendary goalkeeper, Frank Swift, together with the former Blue’s granddaughters. Swift, remembered as one of the finest England goalkeepers ever to play the game, tragically passed away in the Munich Air Disaster of 1958.
Members of the newly re-launched City Women’s team will also be on stage to talk about an exciting season ahead.
Take the opportunity to test your football and rugby skills in the Etihad inflatable for your chance to win signed City merchandise, or try to ‘Beat the Jaguar’ by recording your fastest kick at the Jaguar Energy stand. While you’re there, why not try a free sample of their drink?
We’ll also be searching for one lucky participant to come onto the pitch at halftime to compete for two free flights to Abu Dhabi courtesy of Etihad Airways and the Manchester Evening News – so get down to BT City Square and look out for us!
We’ve also laid on live music from rock band the Struts, ready to entertain you with their flamboyant, swaggering style.
If all that wasn’t enough for you, head round to West Reception for interviews with City heroes Tony Book and Peter Barnes, and hear from a first team player.
With so much going on, you won’t want to miss out. Make sure you head down to the stadium early to sample everything on offer!
