After much deliberation, the winner of the Citystories Capital One Cup competition has been revealed...

The competition generated a huge response and many thanks to all of those who entered. We received hundreds of great Cup stories from far and wide, before narrowing down the number of entries for Club Ambassador and City legend Mike Summerbee to pick the winner.

The winning entry was Mark Peacock's story, entitled: "I woke up to find the League Cup in my hospital bed!" and here it is...

Mark has been contacted and will be making his way to Wembley on Sunday to see City lock horns with Sunderland.

Upon hearing the news, he replied: "I am absolutely over the moon to have won the competition and I can't help but think about my Dad who is no longer with us.

"To be honest, after reading all the other great stories that were submitted, I really didn't think I would have any chance of winning at all.

"It's all the more special knowing that Mike Summerbee chose the winning story. He was one of my Dad's favourite players. Come On City!"

After reviewing the winning entry, Summerbee said: "It was such a touching story. For Mark to be so excited about going Wembley all those years ago only to have it snatched away through such a terrible illness must have been dreadful.

"And then to wake up with the League Cup at the end of your hospital bed a few days later - well, that's what it's all about. What a great story."

Many congratulations to Mark and commiserations to those who missed out. As a result of the competition, Citystories is now filling up with amazing stories from City fans from around the world.

We'll will be running plenty of exciting competitions in the near future so keep an eye out on the website.
