A new stamp featuring City legend Joe Mercer has been issued on derby day which will hopefully be a good omen for the Blues.
The former manager is one of ten ‘remarkable’ people whose centenaries of birth fall this year and have been celebrated in the special Royal Mail collection.
The first class stamps, which go on sale on today, feature portraits of the ten personalities as well as details of what they contributed to British society.
Mercer was in charge of the Blues from 1965 to 1971 and is one of the most revered managers in City history, leading the team to the 1967-68 First Division championship, the 1969 FA Cup, 1970 League Cup and 1970 European Cup Winners Cup.
