City EDS travel to Stoke on Thursday in the inaugural u21 Premier League Cup.
The knock out competition was launched this year and designed to give developing players more experience of competitive fixtures.
Patrick Vieira’s side enter the draw at the round of 32 stage, following two qualifying rounds for category 2 and 3 academies.
The competition is played on a regional basis until the round of 16, when the winners of City’s tie with the Potters will go into a national draw, with all ties played on a one-off basis until the final – played over two legs at the main stadium of the two clubs.
City’s u21 age group were last in action away to Norwich at the beginning of the month, when they despatched the Canaries in style 3-0, courtesy of a Seko Fofana brace sandwiched either side of a Jordy Hiwula strike.
Emyr Huws received a first senior call-up for Wales, while Sinan Bytyqi scored four goals in three games for Austria u19s and Shay Facey gave an excellent account of himself in defence for England u19s.
City met Stoke home and away in the league last term, and were victorious on both occasions. Jose Angel Pozo stole the show on home soil, scoring one and setting up two as part of a magnificent 4-1 victory.
Kick off is at 7pm at Nantwich Town FC (CW5 5BS). We’ll have updates on twitter and a full match report shortly after full time.
