Patrick Vieira believes his EDS side will prove tough competition for Bayern Munich when the German outfit visit Manchester in the UEFA Youth League.

The young Blues enjoyed a dream start to the campaign when they beat Viktoria Plzen 4-1 in the Czech Republic earlier this month, in what was the inaugural match of the newly formed under 19 competition.

“I was really pleased with that performance because we played really well and in the right way. We created so many chances and scored goals – it was a really good win away from home,” declared Vieira.

“By winning our first game away from home, we started working in a really positive spirit.

“We’re working hard every day and trying to improve, so hopefully we will be ready for the game on Wednesday afternoon.”

Bayern will be keen to get some points on the board after they suffered a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of CSKA Moscow in their group opener.

Although the visitors have the current European Champions as their mentors, Vieira is confident that his side will be up to the challenge.

“It’s our first home game, so hopefully we will play well and win the game, but what is really important is to play in the right way with the right philosophy.

“I believe that they are similar to the first team, they like to build the ball up from the back and they are really patient.

"They’re also a very physical and technical side, very strong and very good on the ball. We expect a difficult game, but I believe that we will give them a hard time because we are playing really well at the moment."

Kick-off is at 3pm and entry is free at Ewen Fields, Hyde on Wednesday 2 October, so don’t miss your chance to come and cheer on the young Blues before the first team take to the field at the Etihad Stadium.
