Adam Carter from statistical wizards and must-follow on Twitter @StatCity previews Tuesday's game against West Brom.

Manchester City are facing West Bromwich Albion for the 143rd time in all competitions, knowing that a win at the Etihad Stadium will secure UEFA Champions League qualification.

In total, City have won 59 of the previous 142 fixtures (41.54%), whilst they have drawn 29 times (20.42%) against West Bromwich Albion and have lost the other 54 (38.02%).

The Blues have scored 240 goals against the Baggies in all competitions, scoring at a rate of 1.69 goals per game. City have conceded 234 times against West Brom, which sees the Baggies netting at a rate of 1.67 goals per game.

Manchester City have kept 45 clean sheets against West Bromwich Albion in all competitions (31.69%), whilst failing to score themselves on just 31 occasions (21.83%).

At home against West Bromwich Albion, City are unbeaten in the last 5 meetings and have never lost against the Baggies at the Etihad Stadium. The Blues have won 41 of their 69 (59.42%) home games against West Brom in all competitions. City have drawn 12 (17.39%) and lost just 16 (23.18%) of the other 28 home fixtures.

In the Premier League as a whole, the two sides are meeting for the 14th time. City have won 6 (42.85%), drawn 3 (21.42%) and lost 4 (28.57%) of the previous 13 Premier League fixtures against the Baggies.

The Blues have only kept 4 clean sheets against West Brom, whilst they have also been shut out at the other end on 4 (30.76%) occasions (but only ever once at home).

City have scored 20 goals against West Brom in the Premier League, with 11 of those (55.00%) coming under the tenure of Roberto Mancini. The Blues have leaked in 13 goals against the Baggies but only 1 of those has come under the Italian’s stewardship.

At home against West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League, City have won the last three in a row and haven’t conceded a goal in the last two. A loss and two draws make up the other results in the 6 Premier League home games against the Baggies.

City will look to Carlos Tevez for inspiration as the Argentine is in hot form when it comes to matches at the Etihad Stadium, having scored in three of his last four games on home soil.

Mancini’s men will be hoping to make it five consecutive home wins for the first time this season when they take on Steve Clarke’s West Bromwich side.
