City's Elite Development Squad enjoyed perhaps their most impressive win of the season with a 2-0 win away to a very strong Wolverhampton Wanderers Reserves.
Goals from Alex Tchuimeni-Nimely and James Poole - both returning from lengthy spells out with injury - proved enough to see off a team that included Stephen Hunt, Michael Kightly, Dave Jones, Jody Craddock and Michael Mancienne.
Worryingly, Nimely seemed to pull up just past the half hour and was replaced by Jeremy Helan, though it's too early to say if the Liberian striker's injury jinx has struck yet again.
It was Nimely who gave the Blues the lead on 13 minutes with a chance created out of his own making and one he finished with aplomb as City looked to return to the top of their group in the Barclays Reserve League North.
Abdi Ibrahim almost doubled City's lead on half-time but was denied by a last-ditch block, but Poole did put the game beyond the hosts, knocking home Helan's cross on 70 minutes to seal an excellent away win for Andy Welsh's men.
