Looking back through the history books for the events, signings and memorable matches that happened on this day in City’s history.

Saturday 8 January 1994

Norwegian midfielder Kare Ingebrigtsen enjoys a rare day in the sun – well, the dank Manchester gloom – as he scores three of City’s goals in a 4-1 win over Leicester City at Maine Road. The former Rosenberg star shows his predatory instincts to see off the Foxes in the FA Cup third round tie, but the goal of the day is scored by centre-back Alan Kernaghan (pictured below) who fires in a superb drive from more than 30 yards out. Despite Kare leaving with the match-ball, these would prove to be his only goals for the Blues in an otherwise disappointing stint.
