Looking back through the history books for the events, signings and memorable matches that happened on this day in City’s history.

Thursday 6 July 1973

Georgi Kinkladze was born in Georgia. The gifted youngster was soon scouted by Dinamo Tbilisi and spent five years with the club before joining City for £2m in 1995.

‘Kinky’ quickly became a huge crowd favourite, winning player of the year twice, but couldn't stop the Blues slipping down two divisions during his stay. He joined Ajax in 1998 for £5m, which provided much-needed funds for new boss Joe Royle to start rebuilding his squad.

Friday 6 July 2012

Defender Wayne Bridge signs with Brighton and Hove Albion on a season-long loan.

The left-back went on to play 37 league games for the Seagulls, scoring three goals before signing for Reading on 6 June 2013.
