Portsmouth striker Lee Bradbury signs for a club record £2.1m, raising more than one or two eye-brows in the process.
It will be one of Alan Ball’s last pieces of business as City manager and Bradbury is soon Christened ‘Bad buy’ by some factions of the City support following a poor start in sky blue.
Bradbury never wins the City fans over and moved to Crystal Palace for £1.5 just 15 months later.
Bradbury made 512 appearances in his career and later became manager of Bournemouth from January 2011 to March 2012.
