Plymouth returned to the West Country content at the 1-0 deficit from the League Cup 3rd round, first leg clash at Maine Road and the Pilgrims must have fancied their chances of turning the tie around. But on an evening of goals galore at Home Park, the Blues plunder six of the nine goals scored in a 6-3 win. Wayne Biggins, Paul Moulden, Nigel Gleghorn (2), Neil McNab and Paul Lake all scored making the midweek trek to the south west well worthwhile for the 1,000 or so travelling Blues.
