City record an incredible 6-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford. Balotelli opens the scoring and reveals the now-legendary "Why Always Me?" t-shirt and Dzeko comes off the bench to hit two goals as The Blues put their rivals to the sword. City go on to win the title on goal difference with this match playing an instrumental role in ending 44-years of hurt.

Saturday 23 October 1982
More than 10,000 City fans pack the Scoreboard End and see the Blues go 2-0 up by half-time. Without a win away to United for eight years, hopes are high, but two Frank Stapleton goals after the break change the complexion of the game and leave City clinging on for a 2-2 draw.

New manager John Bond signs Coventry City winger Tommy Hutchison for £47,000. The skilful Scot had made 310 league appearances with the Midlands side and ‘Hutch’ will immediately become a big crowd favourite with the Maine Road faithful. Graceful and intelligent, Hutchison, along with fellow bargain buy Scots Bobby McDonald and Gerry Gow, help transform City from relegation favourites to FA Cup finalists.
