Looking back through the history books for the events, signings and memorable matches that happened on this day in City’s history.
Saturday 24 October 1981
Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest fail to score at Maine Road for the fourth time in five visits since winning promotion back to the top flight. The 0-0 draw is the third goalless game between the clubs since 1978 with Forest failing to win any of the matches.
Saturday 24 October 2004
City play their part in a thrilling game at St James’ Park against Newcastle. The hosts establish a 2-0 lead with a couple of quick goals from Laurent Robert and Alan Shearer after the break but the Blues storm back with two goals in three minutes from Shaun Wright-Phillips and Robbie Fowler.
Robbie Elliot restores the Magpies’ lead before Wright-Phillips makes it 3-3 on 77 minutes. Future City player Craig Bellamy has the last word, though, scoring a last-minute winner to make it 4-3.
