The latest two Academy products to grace the first team have spoken exclusively to the official MCFC podcast

Kelvin Etuhu and Ched Evans came off the bench to make their senior debuts in the last round of the Carling Cup against Norwich last Tuesday.

Georgios Samaras grabbed the late winner, but it was Etuhu’s slide rule pass that gave him the chance, and afterwards Kelvin said: “I was really happy and proud of that pass, that’s what lots of hard training does for you.
“It was really important to get my foot on the ball and get the first pass in, it gave me confidence and showed that I wanted to get involved.”

Of his first senior outing the 19-year-old added: “It was a great experience, I enjoyed it and I’m happy that I’ve found out how different it is to playing for the reserves.

“I had some nerves before I came on because it was my debut, but once I got out there I just got on with my game and the nerves went.”

As for Wales Under 21 striker, Ched Evans, his full City debut came in between a hat-trick for the reserves at Sunderland the week before and a brace against Bury.

The 18-year-old revealed: “I felt some pressure, but like with Kelvin, as soon as I got my first touch I was fine.

“I was happy that he went on first to help out a bit, but I just wanted to get on there as well and make my debut.

“My family were there, and I wanted to do it for them and make them proud.

“I didn’t expect to get on before Christmas, so I just want to thank the Manager and I hope he lets me play again.”
