The Match
City’s reserves lost their unbeaten record when they slipped to defeat away to Everton on Tuesday night.
Despite fielding a side that started with four players with Premier League experience, City could not break down the hosts and only Kelvin Etuhu came close in the first half when he headed over from close range.
Everton took the lead on the hour when Aidan Downes’ dipping shot from 20 yards out beat Kasper Schmeichel, and they sealed the win when substitute Kieran Agard touched home a cross from the right.
Ched Evans and Gary Breen had chances to salvage something from the game late on, but a disappointing night ended with the scoreline remaining at 2-0 to Everton.
The reserves face table-topping Middlesbrough at the Regional Athletics Arena next Tuesday at 7.00pm.
