Mark Hughes' men will complete their build-up for the Barclays Premier League campaign with a prestigious friendly against Celtic at the City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday, August 8 (kick-off 3pm).

The visit of Glasgow's former European champions means that City will warm up for the season with an intriguing Old Firm double header, with the Celtic match preceded by a midweek clash with neighbours Rangers at Ibrox Stadium.

The game, City's last before the Premier League opener at Blackburn Rovers, gives new Celtic manager Tony Mowbray a quick return to the arena where his West Brom side gallantly lost 4-2 in April as they battled unsuccessfully to avoid relegation.

Mowbray's reputation for enterprising football clearly impressed Celtic, who were pipped to a fourth successive Scottish Premier League title by Rangers in an exciting final day of the season north of the border.

Celtic, whose fans have taken to Greek former Blues striker Georgios Samaras, will arrive as League Cup holders, having beaten Rangers in the final at Hampden, and as Champions League contestants thanks to their runners-up spot.
