Marton Fulop is primed to help City make their final push for the Champions League.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper, signed on an emergency loan late on Tuesday evening, arrived at Carrington this morning to start work with his new team-mates ahead of Saturday’s vital home date with Aston Villa.
Having tussled with Craig Gordon for the goalkeeper’s jersey at Sunderland, the Hungarian says he is in good shape for City’s exciting final week of the season, telling mcfc.co.uk:
“I got the call on Tuesday from City and I was more than happy to come and help the club. It’s fantastic to be here at such a time. It came out of the blue but I’m delighted to try to help City achieve their goal.
I’m ready to play, if I’m selected. I came here to do a job and I’m confident that I can do that. I feel good, and we need a win to get that fourth-place spot, which is so important for the club.

Marton, who has been given the number 38 shirt, is also unfazed by the prospect of having to hook up with a new backline at such short notice, adding:
“They are top-quality defenders at City, as are all the team. There are some fantastic players here so I am not worried about anything.”
And there were also some words of sympathy for fellow stopper Shay Given, whose season was ended by a dislocated shoulder in last Saturday’s draw with Arsenal.
“It’s a horrific injury for a goalkeeper,” says Marton, “a really bad one because you use your shoulders with almost every movement. I really hope that Shay recovers very soon.”
