City's Thursday night goal heroes have earned generous praise from their manager and team mates after the win over Red Bull Salzburg.
David Silva settled any lingering nerves when he opened his Manchester City account after just seven minutes, and City's other Silva, striker Jo, bagged his first goal for the Blues in two years when he latched onto a rebound after half time.
Both players are popular figures with their team mates, and Vincent Kompany led the chorus of approval for their efforts and a job well done by the whole team.
The Belgian international said, "It was an excellent performance, and we might have had three more.
"In our previous games we have not had much luck in front of goal but tonight the early goal helped settle us down.
David Silva is a wonderful player and we are really pleased for him. That goal will help him a lot, and we feel we are playing well but we will be an even better side in three or four months' time.
A see-saw match in Turin saw our European next opponents, Juventus, draw with Lech Poznan after battling back from a two-goal deficit leaving manager Roberto Mancini extremely satisfield with the way the night panned out for City.
"This is a great start to the group for us," he declared. "It is always important at this stage of the competition to get a first win.
"I am delighted for Jo and for David, they have both worked really hard and are technically gifted players who are important to us.
"Juve drawing means we are in a good position, but we must play as well as we did in every game as we did tonight."
