City will again be ‘at home’ at Wembley for the FA Community Shield on 7 August against United.

Blues’ fans will again be housed in the West End of the stadium, as was the case in the FA Cup semi-final clash with the Reds and the FA Cup Final against Stoke.

City will receive 28,000 tickets for the 2011/12 curtain-raiser and will be playing in the Community Shield for the first time, though the Blues did take part in the Charity Shield – its predecessor - on seven occasions in the past, the last being against Burnley in 1973.

Tickets details will be posted later this month but will cost £45, £35, £25, £20. Kick-off is at 2.30pm.

This isn’t the first Manchester derby in Charity Shield. The first was back in 1956 when United won 1-0 at Maine Road in the days before the match was played at Wembley.

We have had seven appearances in the game and have won three and lost four of the traditional curtain-raiser.

With the North American tour and Dublin Super Cup to come before this game, it promises to be a fascinating pre-season. Follow it all here first and exclusive on
