City’s newest recruit is determined to take the positives out of City's 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Rodwell came on as a second half substitute and had the misfortune to be called for the handball that led to Liverpool's second goal.

But he remained upbeat about his start to life as a Blue in Manchester.

“It was difficult to adapt to the new system but I think the lads did well,” the midfielder declared.

“In the first 30 minutes we dominated the game and we got back into it in the second half, so we have to take the positives from that.”

Rodwell’s concession of the free-kick that led to Liverpool’s second goal was the only controversial moment of the match, with the ball hitting his arm from close range and the 21-year old admitted he was unsure about the award.

“I’m not sure, I just slid in and I know it hit my chest but I’ll have to watch the video,” he said.

I was shocked the ref gave it because I was so close to it and I couldn’t have got out of the way

...Jack Rodwell...

“I’m not sure we could have done anything about the free-kick itself as it was a great strike but we’ll have to look to improve on it next time.”

Coming from behind for the fourth consecutive match was one of the positives Jack referred to in the post match interview.

“It showed great character to come back from being behind twice and Carlos scored a great goal,” Rodwell concluded.

“We have to keep grinding these points out away from home, especially at places like Anfield and we’ll just take away the positives from today.”
