We played well, says Mancini

Roberto Mancini was quick to jump to the defence of his side after the Blues came away from Upton Park with a 0-0 draw.
The boss was keen to point to the majority possession that his team enjoyed and stressed that defensively City were strong, making it three clean sheets in the past four games.
“I think we played well because we had 65 per cent possession and I think 22 shots,” he said.
“We defended well and I am happy with the performance. The players gave 100 per cent like they always do; I have never seen one player that gave 50 per cent. I trust them all but if we don’t score, we don’t win. However, I think if we continue to work, we can make good this situation.”
Fans have to cast minds back to April to find an EPL match where the Blues failed to score, but a number of chances have gone astray over the past few games.
As a result of this, Mancini opted to start with three strikers up front against the Hammers, but still the Blues still struggled to capitalise.
“We continue to miss a lot of chances, every game,” shrugged Mancini.
“It was the same against Swansea, we missed three or four chances in the second half and the same against Ajax.
“We created the chances and we played with three strikers. We tried everything to win but sometimes the game is like this. But, if we don’t score, we don’t win, this is football.”
